There is the obvious contradiction that feminism often means the refusal to be feminine.
G.K. Chesterton (via hierarchical-aestheticism)

Claiming expertise in femininity and not knowing (or having the ability to understand) what the word feminine means is the contradiction here.

What a dingus.

These are photos of Lovecraft doing what we normally don’t see in the most iconic photographs of him: smiling. For example, The story “The Outsider” by him is in many ways a sort of disguised autobiography. He considered his ingrown facial hairs as a disfigurement and his mother mentioned him as ugly is his youth, which I am sure did nothing for his self esteem.

Whenever I see him smile in photographs, there is a sort of light lit in him that made me forget about his racism, classism, xenophobia and other personal failures and eccentricities. My personal favorite is last one of him with his wife-at-the-time Sonia Greene.

3. Lovecraft and George Julian Houtain - 1921.

4. Lovecraft in Florida with Robert Barlow, Mrs. Bernice Barlow, and Wayne Barlow. - 1935

5. Frank Belknap Long and Lovecraft in Brooklyn. - 1931

6.  Sonia Greene and Lovecraft - 1921.

There’s a stereotype that black people are lazy. I don’t know if that’s true, but I know white people went all the way to Africa to get out of doing work.
